The Animal Welfare Act means there are wide-ranging changes to animal welfare and their management. A new, scientific approach is needed to ensure standards are being met.

Our programme offers either a Diploma of Higher Education or Honours Degree in Animal Science for those aspiring to work in animal care, welfare or another animal-based industry and who wish to meet these challenges with both interest and vigour.

Career Prospects

This programme will provide opportunities for careers in key positions in zoos, the pet trade, stables or kennels and veterinary practices.

The programme also provides a foundation for study at a higher level where knowledge of animal biology, care and management is important.

Employment Opportunities

Careers opportunities in key positions in the Animal Industry are provided by this programme. For example, in zoos, stables, kennels and the pet trade. Working with wildlife concerns is also possible, as is a managerial career in a veterinary practice.
