Welcome to the Department of Geographical and Life Sciences

The Department has a long and successful history of providing a stimulating environment for study. Many of our courses can be taken as part of the Combined Honours scheme, providing the flexibility to combine two subjects, either within this department, or in one of the other University departments. Courses such as the BSc Ecology and Conservation draw on the expertise of both the geographical and science staff.

Many students go on to work in planning and the environment, as well as specialist science. Teaching is another popular route with access to postgraduate teaching courses at the University. Teaching is enhanced by staff that are active in research and committed to providing students with the support they need to succeed.

Study abroad

Many of our courses offer the chance to spend time further afield, such as Europe or Canada... more details
