RESEARCH, CONSULTANCY & PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY:

My research projects have included;

Doctoral research which used oral history techniques to explore the culture(s) of the Metropolitan Police between the 1930s and the 1960s (see Publications).

Working as part of a research team, commissioned by the Home Office, to evaluate the impact of the visual recording of police interviews with suspects (see Research Reports).

Working as part of a research team evaluating the introduction of a performance measurement regime in an English police force (see Research Reports).

Working as part of a research team, commissioned by the Home Office, to evaluate the Approved Premises Pathfinder (see Research Reports).

Working as principal researcher on a piece of research, commissioned by Thanet District Council, to evaluate the use of Dispersal Areas in Thanet (see Research Reports).

My consultancies have included;

Advising the UK Government's Risk and Regulation Advisory Council (RRAC) on the issue of risk aversion and police culture.

 Providing methodological guidance to the Open Society Justice Initiative for their 'Ethnic profiling by law enforcement in Europe' project.

Assessing the quality of bids submitted for National Lottery funding that fall within the criminal justice remit.
