Combined Honours Degree

Psychology can be studied with a range of other subjects as part of the Combined Honours framework.  For a full list of subject combinations please refer to the UCAS codes|.

The combined honours programme leading to BSc(Hons) Psychology with x (where x is another subject in the undergraduate framework) is accredited with the British Psychological Society (BPS)*.

*Note: accreditation of all Psychology undergraduate degrees is time-limited and subject to regular review by the BPS.  Prospective applicants should check the BPS website| for confirmation of current course status.

Year 1

In the first year all combined students study the following two psychology modules as well as relevant modules from their other programme:

MPSMD1PSY Introduction to Psychology

In this module you will be introduced to the core areas of Psychology. You will also be given an overview of the historical development of psychology as a discipline, and learn about the nature of psychological explanation and the diversity of practical applications of psychology.

In this module you will be introduced to some of the basic concepts and techniques used in psychological research, this will let you gain some familiarity with the most common research methods in psychology and provide a grounding in basic statistical analysis.  You will have opportunities to analyse data manually and via computer packages (e.g. SPSS). This will help you not only in conducting your own research, but also to understand psychological literature.

Year 2

Optional modules

Students taking 80 credits in Psychology (accredited route) study both of the following courses, students taking 60 credits in Psychology choose one of these courses:

MPSMD2QMP Qualitative Research Methods in Psychology

Year 3
