Professor Margie Callanan, MSc, PhD, AFBPsS is a chartered clinical psychologist who has worked in primary care settings as a therapist and change agent since 1984.

She is co-founder of the National Primary Care Psychology Special Interest Group of the British Psychological Society (BPS), of which she was the first Chair. Her Ph.D. was conducted at the Institute of Neurology, University of London and since 1989 Margie has worked in Clinical Psychology Training. Margie was Chair of the BPS Committee on Training in Clinical Psychology 1998/2000 and is a member of the BPS Membership and Qualifications Board.

Margie's clinical work remains located in adult mental health and her research focuses on primary care and issues of professional development, with equal value given to qualitative and quantitative approaches. Margie's consultancy work has included service reviews and staff development (e.g. executive coaching, mentoring and facilitating away days) within NHS organisations.
