Henck Van Bilsen

Henck celebrated his 25th anniversary as a clinical psychologist in 2004. He originally trained in the Netherlands as a clinical psychologist, where he also completed his psychotherapy training, specialising in cognitive behaviour therapy. Henck is an accredited member of the British association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). He is also accredited as a trainer and supervisor by the BABCP. He has been on the board of professional organisations like the Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies and the Division of Clinical Psychology. He currently divides his time between leading the CBT programmes of Canterbury Christchurch University and the CBT-Partnership (the leading provider of cognitive behaviour therapies in Hertfordshire). Previously he was instrumental in designing and delivering the Post Graduate Diploma in CBT at the University of Hertfordshire where he also facilitated formal accreditation of this programme.

Previous Experience

Previously he held positions as director of the Auckland Institute for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (New Zealand), consultant clinical psychologist (addictions and personality disorders) and deputy director of the 'Pedologisch Instituut Rotterdam' (the Netherlands). Since 1990 he has worked in private practice.

Special Interests

Henck has a special interest in working with complex and persistent problems, using cognitive behaviour therapy. He is very interested in the learning theory underpinning of cognitive behaviour therapy, service delivery and a unified CBT approach to the treatment of psychological problems.
