Profile summary

I have worked with young people in various contexts for the majority of my working life. I recently gained a first class honours degree from Canterbury Christ Chruch Universiverity (CCCU) and during my studies worked as a Research Assistant for Psychology department staff. I have been employed as an Instructor at CCCU since September 2016. Alongside this role I am completeing a PhD and my research interests lie in the interactions between mothers and their children in particular, the language mothers use with their children and subsequent child development.

Research and knowledge exchange

I am a member of the departments' Learning and Development Research group involved in discussing and developing ongoing research.  In my previous research assistant roles I supported colleagues exploring scaffolding, mental state talk and adolescent bullying and was engaged in data collection and coding.  I have attended specialist mind-mindedness coding training with Professor Elizabeth Meins at the University of York. My own research interests lie in the construct of mind-mindedness (reflected in the way mothers talk to and about their children) and the naturally occuring individual differences that occur in levels of mind-mindedness.

Teaching and subject expertise

I have experience of delivering seminars in academic study skills (Key Skills) and in a Social and Developing Self module, both at Level 4. I am co-convenor for the Graduate Attributes in Psychology module (L4) commencing September 2017.

External activities

I am a member of the British Psychological Society.
