Professional Placement Year

Why should you consider doing a placement?

“Over a third of recruiters who took part in the research repeated their warnings from previous years – that graduates who have had no previous work experience at all are unlikely to be successful during the selection process and have little or no chance of receiving a job offer for their organisations’ graduate programmes”

High Fliers 2017

A year in industry offers you the opportunity to explore a role in an organisation over a 6 – 12 month period. You will complete your year in industry in your third year, after your first two years of study and then return to complete your fourth and final year

The aims of a placement are:

  • to prepare you for your final stage studies through a placement in a relevant business function and help you make an informed career choice when you graduate;
  • to give you an appreciation of the business environment through hands-on experience;
  • to give you opportunities to take what you've learned in the classroom out into the wider world.

Help and support
