Exhibiting at the gallery
The Sidney Cooper Gallery is a well equipped public gallery space in a prominent location on Canterbury High Street which holds approximately 6 – 8 exhibitions a year. The gallery is owned by Canterbury Christ Church University.
Each show lasts between three and six weeks depending on its content and the amount of workshops/lectures and events running alongside. A show may last for up to eight weeks but this would normally be for a larger collaborative project.
The gallery vision is to profile high quality artists through a varied programme. The gallery prides itself on profiling work that is innovative but that is understood on an aesthetic level; with exhibitions that help to explain the creative process to our visitors. This is achieved through a programme of events that run alongside most exhibitions. Unravelling the creative process and ideas behind the work and the exhibition or taking a facet of the exhibition into a workshop, encourages the public to engage in the exhibition and enriches their experience of the exhibition as a whole.
