DISABLED ACCESS TO THE GALLERY
The Gallery is located between St Peter’s Street, which is an historic pedestrian streetscape and Westgate Hall Road. The pedestrian access to the grade 2 listed building, built in 1868 is via three steps in St Peter’s Street.
Wheelchair user access is via the Westgate Hall Road entrance (opposite Westgate Hall) and is close to the Pound Lane public car park. There are informal drop kerbs from the car park to the Gallery. Wheelchair lifts with a maximum load of 250kg have been installed within the building to provide access to the Gallery level. Please contact Gallery staff in advance by telephone (01227 453267) or email gallery@canterbury.ac.uk to arrange access.
Location
The Sidney Cooper Gallery is located in the main street of Canterbury city centre, close to the Westgate Towers which enclose one of the original medieval gateways into the city.
It is just a few minutes walk from the cathedral and all the amenities the city has to offer.
