Date: 1846

Fragment from one of the largest stones in the West wall [the Wailing Wall] of the Temple in Jerusalem in a casket. Presented to Philip Salomons by his friend David Roberts RA, March 1846. Small label on ivory inside casket.

Mahogany plaque with the Ten Commandments inscribed on it in ormolu and gilt, probably Italian, 18th century. Once fixed above the doors of an Ark of the Law in Philip Salomons' private prayer room at 26 Brunswick Terrace, Hove.

Embroidery of silver and gold thread with sequins on dark red velvet, possibly used as a desk cover for a reading desk in Philip Salomons' prayer room at 26 Brunswick Terrace, Hove. Embroidered with a quotation from Exodus.

Silver and gold embroidery of a lion and a palm tree, with sequins, on dark red silk velvet, possibly used as a desk cover for a reading desk in Philip Salomons' prayer room at 26 Brunswick Terrace, Hove. Probably Italian, 18th century, perhaps a coat of arms for a Jewish family in Rome.

Glass bottle of water drawn from Rebekah's Well at Harran by Mrs Beke, 21 December 1861. Dr Charles Beke and his wife re-discovered the well on that day.
