There is lots of helpful advice and tips
about car sharing check on the University’s
car share scheme website
www.5hare.co.uk , or you can read on for
some specific details about car sharing
arrangements for students here.
When to use car share
If you are a regular commuter by car then
the University would like you to consider
sharing your journeys wherever you
reasonably can. This could include
- travel to and from main campus
- making trips between campuses during
the course of your study
Most of our campuses are reachable by
green modes of walk, cycle, bus or train.
All students are encouraged to use green
modes wherever possible. Some campuses
are less accessible, e.g. Salomons, and
there are student car parking facilities at
some campuses.
For Canterbury City centre students
coming from outside Canterbury and whose
term-time/home address is inaccessible by
sustainable modes CCCU recommend that the
students use Canterbury City Council Park
and Ride services, and there are discounts
available for students. As the charges
at the Park and Ride apply per car, car
sharing for students to the Park and Ride
sites will produce big savings for the
students, both in parking and vehicle
