When to use car share

If you are a regular commuter by car then the University would like you to consider sharing your journeys wherever you reasonably can. This could include

• commuting to and from work
• making trips between campuses during the course of your work
• making business trips further afield

Business trips

If you are car sharing on a business trip you can claim extra mileage allowance for carrying passengers - see How do I claim for mileage?

Emergency arrangements

Making contact with a wide group of car sharers should help to ensure that you always have plenty of options for getting home, even if your plans change during the day. However, if you are forced to make an unavoidable journey home for an emergency you can submit a request for the University to reimburse these extra  costs.
