Welcome to Canterbury Christ Church University’s
sustainable development web-site, a site designed to let you
know what measures the University is taking to build sustainability into
its operations and a place where staff and students can find out
how their ideas and actions could help minimise the impact of
our university on the environment.

The University’s Sustainable Development Committee and its
sub-groups;
Facilities working group (covering issues related to estates,
energy, etc.), Sustainable Education working group, and the Fairtrade Committee, have been set-up to deal with increasing
concerns about the environment. The environment is constantly in
the news, and institutions like our own are being asked to
engage with the effects of such issues as global warming, rising
energy costs and pollution, to which we all, in part,
contribute.
I encourage all staff and students to place this site on their favourites list and visit it often, not only to watch our progress in making the University a more environmentally friendly institution but also to follow suggestions about making an individual contribution. The site will provide information on how, through simple measures such as recycling and energy reduction, we can all make a difference.
