Silver Phase: Implementing - Awarded April 2011

Implementing is the second phase of the EcoCampus Scheme.

1. Ensuring that the University is legally compliant will form a major part of this next phase.  During the Bronze phase all key legislative requirements were identified.  During the bronze phase we will be developing procedures for identifying, assessing and complying with legal and other requirements such as sector standards.

2. Following on from the baseline assessment we now need to identify the University's key aspects and assess how each one impacts on the environment.  This process will rank them in level of importance and help to prioritise appropriate actions to deal with them.

3. Once all of the University's significant aspects have been identified and ranked they will be used to set objectives and targets for improvement.  The University's 'draft environmental policy', which we have incorporated into the Sustainability policy, will be refined to reflect the the objectives.

4. The final step is to ensure that we achieve the targets set.  This is done by developing an environmental management programme which will set a framework for setting tasks to deliver the objectives and targets.

The timescale for completing the Silver Phase is March / April 2011.
