Environmental Champions
Environmental Champions - Your University Needs You!
Become an Environmental Champion –
Don’t leave it to
someone else!
If you would like to join us in making the University a better place to work and study and continue ensuring that sustainability issues continue to rise up the University agenda, then we need you!
We have exciting plans over the coming years including significant targets to reduce our carbon footprint and improve our green credentials but we need grass roots support! We would like to aim for greater recognition and use awards such as the Green Impact award scheme to involve more of our staff and students.
Environmental Champions are volunteers whose role will comprise encouraging and advising colleagues on specific measures to save energy, water etc and to generally enable the University's drive towards sustainability.
Environmental Champions are absolutely vital to the success of the 'Green Impact' campaign and will act as the 'eyes and ears' of the Environmental Campaign Team, providing a conduit for campaign materials and initiatives, as well as reporting on opportunities for savings and initiatives.
The Environmental Champions Network will meet at least three times per year and there is a dedicated Blackboard for information sharing and discussions.
To see what an environmental champion role could do and what the Green Impact scheme is all about, take a look at the University of Reading Environmental Champions web pages, which will give you an idea what’s involved.
