Archaeology
Before construction work began an extensive archaeological investigation was carried out by the Canterbury Archaeological Trust. Archaeological findings included three human skeletons,
a horse skeleton and hundreds of roman coins and pottery.
Augustine House is situated on what was the principal Roman route between Canterbury and Dover and the area is believed to have been the focus for early Roman industry and later suburban development.
