Dr Tammy Dempster

I am currently the Psychology team's full-time research assistant, assisting the university’s Psychology team with their research.

I have worked for CCCU for more than 10 years in both teaching and research related positions.

I have a PhD in cognitive neuropsychology but have a diverse range of research interests and experience.  I have worked in a variety of different disciplines (e.g., Psychology, Media, Business, Criminal Justice, and Policing…) with a range of team members, often working on multiple projects for multiple different teams and stakeholders simultaneously.  Having worked for the university for nearly 15 years, I have a range of teaching and research experience spanning multiple areas of psychology and am currently the Psychology Team's full-time Research Assistant.

Additionally, I also work as a researcher for Canterbury Christ Church University's Justice Support Dogs International Lab (https://blogs.canterbury.ac.uk/psychology/justice-dogs/) which was established to prompt the use of professionally trained Justice Facility Dogs (also known as ‘courthouse facility dogs’) in the UK Criminal Justice System. This lab incorporates both the local and international work we do with both our justice facility dog and our therapy dog, supporting vulnerable people in the criminal justice system and helping to improve undergraduate and postgraduate students’ mental health and well-being.

I have ten years of experience as an Associate Lecturer. During this time I've taught psychology to level 4, 5, and 6 psychology students, and research methods to psychology undergraduates, level 6 computing undergraduates, and external Masters research students.
