Sixth form students make plans to change business

04 July 2001

Sixth form students from schools in Thanet and Sandwich will be working on business projects at a conference at Thanet Campus of Canterbury Christ Church University College on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 July. The business conference, entitled “Well it Worked Yesterday” will focus on changing business trends.

The young people attending the conference will be from Dane Court Grammar School, Sandwich Technology School, St Georges C of E School and The Ursuline College.

The year 12 (first year of sixth form) students will work in teams of six people. Each team will analyse the changing nature of an industry. The conference is designed to develop their business acumen, presentation skills and experience of working in teams to a set goal. The participants will receive help from College business staff who will act as group leaders. At the end of the conference the teams will present their proposition to a business panel. Each delegate will receive a recognition award for their participation in the conference. Special prizes will go to the best presentations.

Students will be able to use all the facilities of Thanet Campus including the computing facilities in the Learning Centre to carry out research and create their business presentation. Thanet Campus will also provide catering for the event.

All the team members are currently studying a business related subject at A level, or GNVQ for a BTEC Diploma.
