Thanet Campus hosts Diocesan Synod

Thanet Campus of Canterbury Christ Church University College is to be the venue for the next meeting of the Church of England Canterbury Diocesan Synod on 14 July. Up to 170 clergy and lay members of the Church will attend the event.
The Bishop of Dover, who is also Bishop in Canterbury, Stephen Venner, is Chairman of the Synod. Bishop Stephen is also Vice-Chairman of the College’s Governing Body. The Bishop of Rochester, Michael Nazir-Ali has been invited to address the Synod.
Canterbury Christ Church University College is an Anglican Foundation and a member of the Council of Church Colleges. A spokesman for the Church said, “We are delighted to be working together with the College and holding the Synod at the new Campus.”
Principal of the University College, Professor Michael Wright, commented, “As a Church College, our links with the Church are strong, and fundamental to our mission, which includes sustaining Christian principles and values, without being exclusive. Our Thanet Campus is an important part of our work in extending educational opportunities; a task which has always been a central part of the Church’s role.”
