Are you starting university this September and want to get ready, make friends and feel prepared?

We’re here to help and support you throughout your time at CCCU so you have the best experience possible and achieve your goals. To help you feel confident and prepared to start university, we have created a closed Facebook for 2024/25 where we will be posting regular updates and information leading up to your start date including a range of welcome events so you can get involved from the beginning.

The Facebook group is designed to help you settle into university life. So here are the top ways you can get the most out of the Facebook group:

1. Make friends

Everyone in this group is new to CCCU just like you, so why not introduce yourself and start the year with a new friend or two.

Start a conversation, join in on discussions, share your experiences, take part in polls and get involved so you feel part of the CCCU community before you arrive!

2. Keep an eye on the featured posts

So that you do not miss key posts we will make sure we pin them to the featured area at the top of the group. Have a scroll through on a regular basis to catch up on all the latest updates.

3. Check out our chats

To make it easier for you to find others who are studying the same subject areas, going to the same accommodation, have the same pathway or same background we have created a range of chats.

Chats seamlessly blends Facebook Messenger into the Groups allowing you to have real-time conversations with those you share a common interest or ask questions that may not be relevant to the whole Group.

You can join only those you are interested in, block any in your messenger you don't want to be part of and manage the notifications to suit you. If you want to leave a chat, you can do so simply by clicking the chat name and choosing to leave.

4. Respect the Group rules and each other

At CCCU we expect respect and compassion. Please be kind to one another.

Keep your personal information safe, respect other participants' privacy and post in a positive way.

If you are ever concerned about the behaviour of others, you can report this confidentially via the Group.

5. Have a question – ask the i-zone!

Please feel free to share information and ask each other questions.

If you have a query about the University or its processes the i-zone, our student information service, are here to help. You can contact them directly via Live Chat, email i- zone@canterbury.ac.uk or phone 01227 922222.

Please note that University staff will not be able to respond to Facebook direct messages.

Supporting our international students

We are delighted that we are an international University welcoming students from around the world. We appreciate that studying in the UK is a big step, so we are soon launching CCCU CampusConnect for our international students to connect with others on a similar journey, share experiences and swap advice.

Our international student ambassadors will be posting regular content in CampusConnect just for international students, there will be a series of live chats on relevant topics and we will also be providing regular tailored updates.

We of course also want international students to stay in this Facebook group too, to connect with the wider CCCU community and keep up to date on the broader University news, events, support and services - but with the new CCCU CampusConnect you can also access information that is applicable just to international students.

Look out for an email invite to CCCU CampusConnect soon!

Join Today!

We want you to get the most out of this group, so we invite you to engage with your peers, ask questions, and become part of the CCCU community before you arrive on campus.
