University celebrates students' achievements
20 June 2015
Canterbury Christ Church University celebrated the achievements and contributions of over 80 students at its first annual Student Opportunities Celebration.
The evening, held at the end of May, recognised the students who have made personal and professional journeys throughout their degrees through a range of initiatives including volunteering, becoming sustainability advocates, supporting the University’s arts and culture programme and becoming peer mentors.
The celebration was also an opportunity to present certificates and prizes to students who had completed the Christ Church Extra Award, which encourages students to make the most of their time at university, try new activities and to develop their skillsets ready for life after University.
Helen James, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience, said: “It is inspiring to meet so many students who go above and beyond their studies, by giving back to their university and the local community through their extracurricular activities, and who show such dedication to their own personal and professional development through the Christ Church Extra Award.”
The Christ Church Extra Award is sponsored by the Curzon Cinema, Lloyds Bank, Palgrave Publishers, Fashion International, Three R’s Recruitment and PlaySport, who all generously donated prizes to recognise those students who have gone the extra mile.
