Executive Medical Director appointed as Visiting Professor

Dr Catherine Kinane, Executive Medical Director at Kent and Medway NHS Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT), has been appointed as a Visiting Professor for the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing.
Professor Kinane has made a significant contribution to clinical leadership, quality improvement and carer involvement since joining the trust in 2004. She became Medical Director in 2014.
Speaking about her appointment, Dr Kinane said: "It is a great honour to be offered this role and I am delighted to represent the Trust at Canterbury Christ Church University helping to strengthen our education and research profile.”

Prior to being appointed Executive Medical Director, Dr Kinane worked as a consultant forensic psychiatrist for the trust, having trained in London in Forensic and General Adult Psychiatry and previously as a general practitioner.
Her research interests include carer, carer burden, risk assessment and held a NIHR grant for ComQuol, a pilot trial to assess the effect of a structure communication approach on quality of life in secure settings, which won the 2012 MHRN award for ‘Best User Involvement in a Portfolio Study’. She is co-applicant on the ‘Odessi’ trial to conduct a randomised control trial on peer supported open dialogue.

In addition, her contemporary insight will add value to the student experience.”
