Meeting the conditions of your offer
The conditions of your offer are unique to you and are dependent on your chosen course and level of study. UCAS applications will receive an offer through the UCAS website while direct entrants will receive their offer by letter.
In either case your offer will have a number of conditions that you must meet before you are able to become fully registered and begin your studies.
If you don’t meet the conditions of your offer keep in mind that we will contact you to discuss other alternative routes. For example, if you applied for an undergraduate degree and have been unsuccessful, you may be offered a place on a related foundation degree (subject to course availability).
Additional Entry Requirements
There are a number of additional entry requirements that need to be met for some of the courses that we offer. If you are on a course that requires you to obtain a DBS Certificate, complete a Skills Test, or complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire, the relevant information will be available within Portal, via the Programme Essentials Tile.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
The University requirement is that all individuals who will be working unsupervised with children or vulnerable adults gain an enhanced disclosure certificate from the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) before starting their programme.
If you have been asked to apply for DBS clearance as a condition of your offer from the Admissions team, you must make sure to visit the Portal, select the ‘DBS’ tile and book at DBS session.
You will also find a link to the online DBS payment system. N.B: Applicants on NHS bursary funded programmes (e.g. Nursing, Radiography) do not need to pay.
If you need additional help or have any questions relating to DBS, please email Admissions or call 01227 782222.
Teaching and Health Care programmes require occupational health clearance to ensure trainees for these professions are fit to practice.
Portal includes the following documents to enable you to complete the process to gain occupational health clearance.
- Occupational Health Questionnaire
- Guidance on how to complete the Questionnaire
- What to expect during occupational health screenings
Certain teaching programmes require students to complete Skills Tests as a condition of their offer to study with us. If you need to complete a Skills Test, the tile will be visible from within Portal.
More details on the Skills Test can be found on the Department for Education website.
