Borrowing
Items tailored to the needs of students and staff at each campus can be borrowed from the library/learning centre issue desks. Additionally, at Canterbury, a number of self-issue machines are available for users to borrow and renew their own items.
Borrowing Entitlement
Standard Loans
- Undergraduates: 12 items for 21 days
- Higher Degree Students: 16 items for 28 days
- Research students: 16 items for 42 days
- Support staff: 12 items for 42 days
- Academic staff: 20 items for 42 days
- External borrowers: 5 items for 21 days

- Undergraduates: 20 items for 21 days
- Higher Degree Students: 20 items for 28 days
- Support and research staff: 20 items for 42 days
- Academic staff: 45 items for 42 days
- External borrowers: 5 items for 21 days
7 day loans
- Students and staff: 6 x 7 day loans
- External borrowers may not borrow 7 day loans
Items in this category are in heavy demand. They are kept on the open shelves and marked with a 7 day label. Most videos and DVDs are 7 day loans.
Short loan collection
- Staff and students: 2 items
- External borrowers may not borrow short loan items
Items in very heavy demand. These are available on the ground
floor in Augustine House. They are issued for
one day.
