Borrowing Entitlement
To borrow items you will need your smartcard. Self service machines are available at the Canterbury and Broadstairs campuses. At other sites you may borrow items from the issue desk.
Standard Loans
- Undergraduates and PGCE: 12 items for 21 days
- Post Graduate Taught: 16 items for 28 days
- Post Graduate Research students: 16 items for 42 days
- Professional Services staff: 12 items for 42 days
- Academic staff: 20 items for 42 days
- External borrowers: 5 items for 21 days

- Undergraduates and PGCE: 20 items for 21 days
- Post Graduate Taught: 20 items for 28 days
- Post Graduate Research students: 20 items for 42 days
- Professional Services staff: 20 items for 42 days
- Academic staff: 45 items for 42 days
- External borrowers: 5 items for 21 days
7 day loans
- Students and staff: 6 x 7 day loans
- External borrowers may not borrow 7 day loans
Items in this category are in heavy demand. They are kept on the open shelves and marked with a 7 day label. Most videos and DVDs are 7 day loans.
Short loan collection
- Staff and students: 2 items
- External borrowers may not borrow short loan items
Items in this category are in very heavy demand. These are available on the ground
floor in Augustine House and they are marked
with a blue label. They are issued for one day
and they cannot be renewed.
