BoB (Box of Broadcasts)

BoB (Box of Broadcasts) is an innovative shared online off-air TV and radio recording service for UK higher and further education institutions.  

The academically-focused system allows staff and students at subscribing institutions (CCCU being one of the many) to record programmes from over 75 free-to-air channels, and search their extensive archive!

With Box of Broadcasts you can:

  • Access 2.2 million broadcasts dating back to the 1970s
  • Record from over 75 free-to-air channels
  • Create your own playlists, clips and clip compilations
  • Search programme transcripts and subtitles
  • One-click citation for easy academic referencing
  • Available on all devices
  • Fully accessible

Though please note:

  • Need to create an account before accessing resources
  • Cannot be viewed outside of the UK
  • Can take a little time to familiarise

Go to https://learningonscreen.ac.uk/ondemand and select Sign In

Type ‘Canterbury’ in the Where are you from box

Select Canterbury Christ Church University and click on Go

Initial / First Time Log-In

If this is the first time you are accessing BoB you will be presented with the CCCU sign-in screen. Enter your username@canterbury.ac.uk and your password.

Account Setup

You will need to setup your account. Simply enter your CCCU email and name in the relevant fields and then select Register.

The next screen will inform you that an email has been sent to you.

Open your email and locate the message sent from bufc.ac.uk.
You will need to click the link to complete your registration.
Select the link in the email message.
This will redirect you back to BoB where it will confirm successful account setup.

You can share recordings on BoB with other CCCU staff and students. The best way to do this is to use the 'WAYFless link' which will send the user straight to the CCCU login page (if the individual isn’t already logged in), and then once logged in, take them directly to the recording.

  1. open BoB and locate the relevant recording
  2. choose Share
  3. of the three options provided, copy the WAYFless link
  4. paste this into whatever method you are using to send your link (e.g email, post to a Blackboard module Discussion Board, etc)
