Curriculum Resources
Curriculum Resources is a special collection of teaching
resources for education students to borrow. It contains books
and other materials on all subjects to help with lesson planning
and use whilst working
with children in the classroom. The collection is held on floor
2 of Augustine House in Canterbury and education
students may borrow up to 20 items from here (in addition to
their normal library borrowing allowance). Students based at Broadstairs, Salomons and Chatham campuses can request items
from Curriculum Resources to be sent to their home site.

Every book in the Library has a classmark on its spine and all the items in Curriculum Resources have CR before the classmark to denote that they are part of this collection. You can search the library catalogue for a subject then select 'Filter' to limit your search results to the CR collection.
Broad classmark subject areas in Curriculum Resources are:

Many Books in the CR collection can be used for cross-curricular work, whichever main subject area they are shelved in.

You could borrow a set of chalk and slates to show how school-children used to write, some Hindu artefacts for an RE lesson, a box of magnets or a Barnaby Bear glove puppet! |
Journals
The Library holds lots of printed periodicals (journals) about general and subject-specific teaching. In Augustine House these are shelved alphabetically by title in the compact shelving on Floor 1 and they are for reference use only. Useful titles to read about teaching include: Primary Practice, Children's Literature in Education, Primary Science Review, Primary Music Today and more
Recommended general websites for teaching
There are many websites which can help you with teaching ideas, lesson plans and worksheets, or that provide interactive activities to use in the classroom. Be careful to evaluate any website that you find as many are commercial sites promoting a company's own products for sale rather than evaluated resources: always check who has produced the website.
