Canterbury Campus (St Pauls)
St Pauls is within easy walking distance of the North Holmes road part of the campus. The complex comprises two floors with the first floor housing a 13 bedded ward area, clean utility room, dirty utility room, a well-equipped occupational therapy assessment bathroom, a small kitchen area, a nurse's station and a well equipped one bedded High Dependency room.
The whole area has a modern remote monitoring CCTV system enabling students to be filmed for teaching, evaluation or examination (OSCE) purposes. There are also areas for midwifery (birthing bed and other equipment) and paediatric assessment (2 cots, 1 crib, an incubator and other paediatric monitoring equipment).
On the upper floor, there are a number of teaching and seminar rooms along with two community bedrooms, which house a profiling bed and an overhead track hoist. There are two interview rooms which have one-way mirrors which can be used for the teaching of interviewing and general communication skills. A Snoezelen room can also be set up on request.
The large classroom on this floor accommodates a bed, examination couches, standing frame, free standing stairs and wheelchairs and mobility aids (for demonstration), this room also has two computers with the usual computer hardware and software (network access, internet access, PowerPoint etc) including an electronic biometric assessment and rehabilitation system (MULE), along with a newly installed "White Board".
A ten-station computer room is also available for students to access during teaching as well as for drop-in sessions. In addition to the main facilities at St. Pauls there is a partial skills laboratory in two separate buildings on the North Holmes Road site, which includes two occupational therapy workshops, an assessment kitchen, the main radiography equipment and a clinical science laboratory.
