I am a Registered Nurse (Adult) and a NMC recorded Lecturer/Practice Educator. My BA (Hons) and Higher Diploma are in Fine Art from the University of Reading (1979) and University College London (Slade School of Fine Art, 1981), respectively. I qualified in general nursing at Waltham Forest School of Nursing (1986) and was subsequently awarded a MSc Nursing (Kings College London, 1989), a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (University of Greenwich, 1997) and a PhD in Sociology (London South Bank University, 2002).

My clinical nursing career includes extensive experience in the fields of acute medicine/surgery, HIV/AIDS, palliative care and psychosexual/sexual health; as well as experience of practice development. In my academic career to date I have won over £160k of research/consultancy income, produced over thirty peer reviewed outputs and have also led the delivery of undergraduate nurse teaching/education management plus regularly supervising/teaching postgraduate research students.

My role within the Adult Nursing Team includes teaching/supervision as required plus working as an Associate Research Fellow within the Faculty's Centre for Health & Social Care Research with Professor Annmarie Ruston and her team. My teaching and research interests include the sociology of health/illness, health service delivery/organisation development and research.
