I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1988 at St Thomas's Hospital, London. Since then I have held senior clinical positions in a variety of emergency care settings, including most recently as a Senor Nurse/ Emergency Nurse Practitioner. In May 2002, I was appointed as a Lecturer Practitioner for Emergency Care at Canterbury Christ Church University. I continue to work both in the clinical environment and as a Lecturer Practitioner, dividing my time equally between nursing practice and nurse education.
I am responsible for the management of both Pre and Post Registration modules focusing on the field of Emergency and Critical Care. I am also the Resuscitation Lead for the Faculty of Health and Social Care, which incorporates the co-ordination of providing basic, intermediate and advanced life support training to both students and staff across the faculty. For personal development, I am currently undertaking Masters Studies in Teaching and Learning and Critical Care.
In my spare time, I undertake consultancy work teaching Major Incident management both in the Pre Hospital and Hospital settings and also Trauma Care. Voluntary work at the local race circuit as a Nurse Practitioner ensures that my pre hospital care knowledge remains current.
