I have worked within the Nursing and Applied Clinical Studies department since 2007. I am involved in teaching a variety of subjects on the undergraduate nursing programme and I have recently become the Community Practice pathway leader for the Foundation Degree.
I graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University in 2004 and went on to study at Maters level at the University of Kent. My Masters Degree was Health Services Research which is a particular area of interest for me.
I have been a registered nurse since 2004 and have worked as a Community Staff Nurse in several localities within East Kent. I am currently working within the Friends Dermatology Unit at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. My role within the team is to assist with minor surgical procedures and help in the outpatient clinics. While dermatology is new to me I am enjoying the new experience and value the patient contact as I feel this supplements my teaching.
I have published work in the Journal of Advanced Nursing (Griggs, C. Jensen, J. (2006) Effectiveness of acupuncture for migraine: critical literature review. Journal of Advanced Nursing 54(4):491-501) and has just completed a qualitative research study examining the current challenges of Palliative Care in the community
