I qualified as an RGN at St George's Hospital, London having previously gained a joint honours degree in Biology and Psychology at the University of Leicester. I gained a Registered Clinical Nurse Teacher qualification from the Institute of Advanced Nursing Education and achieved teacher status by completing a post-graduate certificate of education at the University of Greenwich. Initially I taught at Maidstone School of Nurse Education but moved to Christ Church College in 1993 with the advent of project 2000.
I currently teach applied clinical sciences (anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology) across the adult curriculum to a variety of healthcare professionals. I have recently taken on the position of academic co-ordinator for this team and within this role I am interested in developing innovative methods of teaching science to students o f varying academic ability.
My main area of research interest is cancer. I have recently completed a PhD looking at the illness experiences of patients following surgery for colorectal cancer.
