I qualified as a nurse in 1986 at the (now Royal) London Hospital.  Initially I worked on a neurosurgical unit but soon moved to an Intensive Care Unit where I completed my intensive care course.  Over the years I have worked in a variety of units that have combined Intensive Care, Coronary Care and High Dependency nursing within both Teaching and District General Hospitals.  I became an ITU Sister in 1993 and developed the Clinical Educator role and completed my degree.  This led to my long passion for education which included a Lecturer-Practitioner role and now Lecturer.  As part of my Masters I research ITU nurses experiences of psychological care for patients.

I am a committee member for the British Association of Critical Care Nurses Southern Region which involves promoting critical care education across the south east of England.

I am currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Nursing examining the caring/technology relationship within critical care.  Although, my background is critical care, I also have an interest in Interprofessional Education and Advanced Practice and my teaching includes these areas.
