Gill Gower is currently a senior lecturer on the under and post graduate occupational therapy courses and contributes to the inter professional learning programme at the university.
She initially worked in mental health and learning disabilities within the NHS, completing a masters degree in applied psychology. More recently she worked as a senior manager for therapy services in acute physical NHS trusts until joining the university in 2006.
In the past she has external examined for other universities, worked in strategic health planning teams and for the department of health as a health commissioner. She has also worked as a trainer and advisor in the commercial world, specialising in stress and anxiety management in the workplace.
Her interests include a healthy interest in all aspects of life and a deep seated belief in the power and glory of the engagement in occupation and the future of the Occupational Therapy profession.
