Fiona joined CCCU in 2000 having spent many years working in physical health both in the acute and community settings. She has worked in many clinical areas, nearly all of which have involved the development of new occupational therapy services i.e. getting the proverbial "foot in the door".
She has worked not only in the UK, but also in New Zealand and Australia where she particularly enjoyed working with clients from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Fiona returned to the UK to undertake an MSc in Advanced Occupational Therapy which she gained in 1996.
Fiona's clinical interests include:- renal medicine and transplantation, cancer care, falls and falls prevention, accident and emergency/critical care, rheumatology, pain management and hand therapy.
Her personal interests include history and quilting (Baltimore Album Quilts) and she is currently planning a research study investigating quilting as an occupation in the 21st century.
A subject which she is sure psychiatrist Dr. William Rush Dunton, a founding father of the American Association of Occupational Therapy, acknowledged quilt expert and himself a quilter would have approved of since he often prescribed quilting for his "...nervous ladies"!
