Departments and Centres

The Faculty of Health and Social Care is made up of academic departments and research centres: 

Academic Departments

• Allied Health Professions including occupational therapy, diagnostic radiography, paramedic science, operating department practice and speech and language therapy
• Health, Wellbeing and the Family including midwifery, child nursing, practice-based play therapy, dance psychotherapy and health promotion and public health
• Nursing and Applied Clinical Studies
• Social Work, Community and Mental Health including learning disabilities

Research Centres

• Centre for Health and Social Care Research offering applied, practice focused and policy research
• Dementia Services Development Centre South East - as host and partner of the Centre, the Faculty, alongside Dementia UK and Avante Partnership, assists with the development of services for people with dementia
• Sidney De Haan Centre for Arts and Health - working with the Faculty of Arts and Humanities to research the contribution of music and arts in promoting wellbeing and health
• Centre for Research into Children, Families and Communities - working with the Faculty of Education to undertake social, cultural, health and education research on issues affecting children, families and communities
