Occupational Therapy Facilities

Occupational Therapy students have access to a range of facilities at the Canterbury campus.

The Occupational Therapy facilities enable students to consider the demands of everyday activities. Students are able to explore a range of equipment and adaptations which may be utilised to enhance an individual's independence within these activities.

The Occupational Therapy facilities include:

Bedroom

The bedroom is a replica of a typical bedroom in the community. Students can role play scenarios which take place outside the hospital in the patient's home. Role play may involve the use of different dressing, moving and supporting aids, which are commercially available to the patient in the community.

Bathroom

The bathroom areas are furnished with walk-in showers, bathroom lifts and steps, toilet aids and adjustable furniture. They are designed to prepare students to support people remain independent in their home.

Kitchen

Our fully-functioning kitchen areas are adjustable to give students the opportunity to experience limitations of how physical and mental illnesses can impact on health and wellbeing and also to find ways to overcome obstacles.

Workshops

Two flexible workspaces providing accommodation for a range of practical activities. These activities include orthotics, group work and creative skills, as well as seminars and workshops.
