Study with us

The Institute of Medical Sciences, based at Canterbury Christ Church University's Medway campus, offers a range of postgraduate medical education courses.

Commencing in October 2016 we will be offering a brand new MCh programme, in three clinical specialities:

  • MCh in Surgery – Otorhinolaryngology*
  • MCh in Surgery – Orthopaedics and Regenerative Medicine*
  • MCh in Surgery – Urology*

*subject to validation

The MCh in Surgery with its three specialist surgical pathways is aimed at doctors who are at ST1 level and above. The theme of regenerative medicine will run through each of the specialist pathway modules with its application, research and emerging technologies being critically explored.  Although a key component and theme through this programme will be regenerative medicine, a further theme that will run through each of the modules is the teaching of practical surgical skills in each of the pathways and modules through simulation.

This programme aims to develop students’ scientific insight into current and emerging technologies that will inform their clinical practice and help them to apply basic scientific discoveries to their clinical work for the benefit of patient care.

Applicants must be a qualified and registered medical practitioner with a minimum of two years post qualification clinical experience.

Equivalence of qualifications (by using NARIC) b) English Language Level IELTS score of 6.5 (with minimum 6.0 in writing) (Note: 7.5 for students wishing to apply for a GMC registration number) or equivalent.

A Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check and Occupational Health screening will be completed for all successful applicants prior to any clinical visits.

Canterbury Christ Church University runs an International Sponsorship Scheme for International Medical Graduates (IMGs). For those IMGs who meet the General Medical Council (GMC) criteria for the scheme a GMC registration number will be awarded.

This sponsorship scheme is suitable for international students.
