How to Download a Resource
This help file will provide information on how to download a resource from the website and extract the contents so that they can be used. It is split into three sections:
Download the file
Once you located the page that contains a resource that you are interested in, click on the Download Resource button.
You will be taken to a page where you will be invited to download the file by clicking on the Download Now button.
A window will pop up that will give you the opportunity to save a compressed (zipped) file onto your computer, network drive or flash pen drive. Now, click on the Save button.
Decide where you wish to save this file.
Click on the Save button again.
The file will be downloaded into the area that you have selected.
Once downloaded, click on the Close button to remove the pop up window.
N.B. At this point, staff members who want to load the resource into their VLE course will need to refer to the manual or contact support staff.
Extracting the file under Windows XP
Locate where you have downloaded the file.
If you are a Windows XP user, you will note that the file resembles a zipped folder.
Double-click on the zipped folder icon. A window will open up that will display the contents of that zipped folder.
In the left-hand side of this folder under the Folder Tasks module.
Click on the Extract all files link. A window entitled Extraction Wizard will pop up.
Click on the Next > button.
Select where you want to extract the files into. You may need to create a special folder for placing the extracted files into. Click on the Next > button to extract the files into their designated location.
Ensure the Show extracted files tick box is ticked then click on the Finish button.
Inside the folder of extracted files, double-click on the file called index.html to view the resource.
Embedding the file into Blackboard
Staff members may wish to print off and read the tutorial entitled: Using Learning Objects within Blackboard to learn about embedding and contextualising these resources within their Blackboard courses.
