Can I choose what date to attend? Can I attend on a different date?

Question:
Can I choose what date to attend? Can I attend on a different date?
Answer:

Unfortunately, no. Each course has an allocated ceremony and therefore it is not possible for you to choose or attend a ceremony on a different date.

If you have studied a joint degree your allocated ceremony will be for the subject which appears first in your award title as printed on your certificate. Students are unable to choose, or swap ceremonies.

If you cannot attend on the allocated date, you may choose to defer your graduation by responding ‘defer’ in My Record when you RSVP. However, you will not be able to choose the new graduation date and will be assigned to the next available ceremony with space, at the discretion of the Graduation Team. This may be in the following academic year due to capacity.

Deferrals

  • Students may request to defer their graduation only after they have been invited to graduate.
  • Students are only permitted one opportunity to defer their graduation.
  • Any student who does not attend their graduation for whatever reason is admitted to their award in absentia.

If the RSVP deadline has passed and you wish to request a deferral, please call i-zone on 01227 922222 or email i-zone here.
