Richard Parish will be discussing the major challenges to the future of public health and the reasons for the lack of success to date. He will also explore what we need to do today to improve health tomorrow.

Biography

Professor Richard Parish is the Chief Executive for the newly formed Royal Society for Public Health. The Royal Society for Public Health came into existence in October 2008 following the merger of the Royal Society of Health and the Royal Institute of Public Health. Professor Parish was the Chief Executive for both these respective organisations prior to the merger.

For over twenty years, Professor Parish has acted as a consultant and advisor to the World Health Organisation and project led the European Health Report (2005). He is the principal author for the European Child and Adolescent Health Strategy, and also the author of the international report which followed the first European Conference of Health Promoting Schools. He also helped to draft the Ottawa Charter in 1986.

Richard is currently involved with a variety of projects, both internationally and in the UK.
