Critically acclaimed historian to give Annual Becket Lecture
Critically acclaimed British historian and broadcaster Dr John Guy will be giving this year's Annual Thomas Becket Lecture.
Dr Guy has sold hundreds of thousands of books and is recognised as one of Britain’s most exciting historians for the way he brings the past to life with his scholarly and accessible re-telling of history.
The lecture, on Thursday 29 November, will see Dr Guy discuss his new book, ‘Thomas Becket: warrior, priest, rebel, victim a 900 year old story retold’. In the book Dr Guy draws on a vast array of contemporary records, personal letters and first-hand accounts to build a psychologically gripping account of this iconic man, the turbulent times in which he lived and the pivotal role he played in the nation's history.
The Annual Thomas Becket Lecture takes place on Thursday 29 November, 6pm, in Augustine Hall, Augustine House.
Copies of "Thomas Becket: warrior, priest, rebel, victim a 900 year old story retold" are available for purchase from the University Bookshop at the special event price of £18, and the Bookshop will be present before and after the lecture.
