Anglo-Saxon Weekend
Exciting free living history event at East Cliff, Folkestone.
A Town Unearthed: Folkestone Before 1500 is organising a free living history weekend with Regia Anglorum, the country’s premier Anglo-Saxon re-enactment society.
Kim Siddorn of Regia Anglorum said “Whilst we have not been to Folkestone before, we are very much aware of the town’s Anglo-Saxon past and are very keen to present an educational and entertaining picture of life in Anglo-Saxon England as it was lived 1000 years ago."
Amongst a number of events, there will be hourly bouts of fierce combat in a battle arena, put on by Anglo-Saxon and Viking warriors with the weapons used being put on display in an armoury. Alongside demonstrations of a variety of crafts in a living village, there will be a selection of children’s activities and a hog roast.
This event is open to the public.
