Professor Phoenix will discuss the issue of academic freedom - the freedom to research, write and speak according to one's conscience - on issues related to sex and gender identity.

The event is a chance to explore what universities and other organisations can learn from the Phoenix Employment Tribunal Judgement, which found that Jo Phoenix was discriminated against, harassed, and wrongfully constructively dismissed by her employer because of her gender-critical beliefs.

Professor Phoenix researches sex, gender, sexualities and justice, youth justice and punishment, the production of criminological knowledge and research ethics at the University of Reading.

The majority of the time will be given over to chaired questions, contributions and discussion.
