Athena SWAN (Equality Challenge Unit)
Athena SWAN is a charter that recognises and celebrates good practice towards the advancement of gender equality in Higher Education.
Its aim is to drive forward the cultural and systemic changes required for institutions to remain competitive and attractive to talented staff and potential students in a global market.
Canterbury Christ Church University is committed to Athena SWAN and became a charter member in November 2015, signing up to the ten key principles. The University has additionally employed a dedicated Athena SWAN Co-ordinator to provide support and guidance to the University on its Athena SWAN journey.
There are three levels of Athena SWAN awards, Bronze, Silver and Gold, at both University and Faculty/School levels. The University must first achieve an Institutional award before applying for Faculty/School awards.
If you wish to find out more about Athena SWAN or become involved in this journey or have any enquiries relating to Athena SWAN then please email Mike Chenery, Athena SWAN Co-ordinator.
