The Student Associates Scheme (SAS)
How this does this scheme encourage and support students to think about investigating routes into teaching?
The Student Associate Scheme provides participants with a wonderful opportunity to experience teaching as a potential career choice. Feedback from participants in the past has been very positive about the experience and many have subsequently chosen to undertake a course with Qualified Teacher Status. Participants can and do use their experiences on this course to support their applications for teaching routes in Initial Teacher Education.
The scheme is closely related to the Standards for Qualified Teacher Status and all participants are required complete a SAS Training Entry Profile which they can use when making applications.
Once on the course, a series of presentations are given to participants during the lecture period, to give an overview of the ITE routes which are available.
If participants are thinking about applying to Canterbury Christ Church University advice is also available from the Faculty of Education Information Office and the University Admissions Department.
Participants can also request a tutorial with Michael Green, the SAS Director.
