As part of Education's Research Strategy and the generation of HEFCE-funded QR income, a new structure for research in the Faculty has been established, with an Education Research Directorate consisting of a Director of Research, Director of Research Development and Director of Knowledge Transfer. New professorial appointments have been made and theme co-ordinators from the Faculty appointed. The National Institute for Christian Education Research (NICER) is situated within the Faculty.

The inter-disciplinary Research Centre for Children, Families and Communities|, with staff from Health and Social Care has also been established with strong links to both Faculties.

The Director of Research provides strategic leadership and support for all research activity, co-ordinates and leads the theme co-ordinators. The Director of Research Development works with the Director of Research to develop and strengthen all aspects of the research culture and research support as well as being responsible for research students. The Director of Knowledge Transfer has responsibility for leading the development of Knowledge Transfer projects and partnerships.
