Quality Development Framework (QDF) for Extended Services - Training Programme

This course, offers a tool complete with a training package for schools/consortia and practitioners involved in developing Extended Services provision. The training programme offers a self evaluative approach and defines three developmental levels of good practice. It may also be used as the criteria for formal recognition of Quality in Extended Services good practice in schools, consortia or clusters via the QES Recognition Scheme. The training will be of particular relevance to Extended Services Co-ordinators and Cluster Co-ordinators, Officers with a remit for aspects of the core offer for example, Study Support, Childcare, Adult Education, School based professionals and multi-agency based professionals and Local Authority Strategic Managers.

TRAINING OPTIONS

Training is based around two sections of the QDF: The Guidance, and Audit and Planning Tool and the 15 Quality Themes from the Framework.

The course is available in three forms, depending on the client's requirements.

Half-day refresher

This consists of an overview of the QDF and then an opportunity to engage with and discuss the new Guidance, Audit and Planning Tool and for Officers and/or Practitioners to update their knowledge of the new themes including next steps and support for the transition process.

One-day Training

This consists of an overview of the QDF and then an opportunity to engage with and discuss the new Guidance, Audit and Planning Tool and through a Critical Friend approach develop a dialogue using the questions, descriptors and criteria in the framework. Support with embedding the framework with a Local Authority Strategy and next steps including an overview of the QES process.

Two-day Training

This consists of an overview of the QDF and then an opportunity to engage with and discuss the new Guidance, Audit and Planning Tool as a training exercise. Dialogues and Critical Friend style conversations using the questions, descriptors and criteria in the QDF. Support with how best to embed the framework as part of LA strategy and next steps. A focus on practice and the kinds of developments that may be desirable. Support with relating the QDF to other Local Authority strategies and self-evaluation tools.  In addition, there will be an an overview of the QES process and the basic requirements and support with developing capacity and structures to enable the roll out of QES.
