'Raising achievement by enhancing the quality of learning outside of the curriculum'
The aim of QiSS is to support schools, local authorities. 14-19, HEIs and other educational organisations in raising students' achievement, motivation and self esteem.
The Quality in Study Support (QiSS) Recognition Scheme provides a formal public validation of the self-evaluation process at the three levels undertaken using the Extending Learning Opportunities; a framework for self-evaluation in study support.
Study Support is now seen as an initiative of proven effectiveness in raising standards of learner attainment and increasing learner motivation.
QiSS strongly believes that study support:
-
is a key part of strategies for school improvement;
-
raises pupil motivation, self-esteem and achievement;
-
promotes collaboration between schools and other organisations;
-
public libraries; youth services; the arts; sport; and business;
-
involves young people as decision makers, peer educators and evaluators of their own learning.
The Quality in Extended Services (QES) Recognition Scheme is a parallel scheme to QiSS and is based on the Quality Development Framework (QDF), which sets out principals of good practice, providing key indicators and a clear process for self-review.
