Early Years in Action: Personal, Social and Emotional Development The focus of this programme, made shortly after the 7 July London bombings, is uncomfortable feelings.
Teachers introduce reception children to a persona doll, taking on the role of a child who was in central London on the day of the bombings. This helps the children find strategies for dealing with and giving voice to feelings which they might have felt in the same situation.
KS1/2 Art - Messy Art at KS1 Art coordinator Peter Sanders visits Berger Primary School to teach a Year 1 class on the subject of dark and light using charcoal and chalk.
Art can be a chaotic subject to teach, but teaching messy art can also be adventurous and ambitious and, above all, hugely rewarding with the right approach.
KS1/2 Art - Messy Art at KS2 Art coordinator Peter Sanders works with Year 4 teacher, Dawn Owen, to deliver a lesson on abstract painting, using powder paints.
Although ambitious art projects can be daunting, not least because of the potential for mess, they can extend pupils and achieve surprising results. The theme of the lesson is temperature, drawing on what the children have been learning about in science.
Resource Review - Primary Art In each Resource Review programme, experts recommend top resources to put to the test, giving teachers the chance to make informed decisions about the most effective resources.
